encourage me...

Because BLW isn't just for lentil-weavers. Some of us like to piddle about with bits of felt and sticky-backed plastic as well.

encourage me...

so, there's a competition I think I might enter. I haven't a hope in hell of winning, but I might have a chance of being selected to enter the initial round, which looks like it would be a really fun day and a good chance to break out of my comfort zone art-wise.
I need a bit of encouragement though, it would potentially mean being on telly (if I was asked to be in the initial round), and I hate seeing images of myself anywhere, let alone on national telly, the thought is rather hideous!
I'm also terrified of being asked along and making a total fool of myself with my colouring pencils, alongside proper artists with oil paints and the like.
But I think it might be fun, and the filming is on a day that DH is off work anyway...
here's the comp... http://www.sky.com/portrait
What do you think? should I be encouraged, or should I steer clear?

You should always do things that push you and scare you a little. It's good for you! You'll only regret NOT doing it.
Go for it.

I just read over the sire. It looks good. I've got a few cracking self portraits, though they were done <just counted up> 6 years ago... hmmm. I wonder if that'll be a problem. I didn't see anything in the Rules but...

I looked through all the comments/questions, and someone asked that, and a sky person replied that it didn't matter when the painting was painted, just that it still had to be available to bring along - it can't be something you have a digital record of but which is sold.
