I'm sorry you feel upset lin {{{}}}. I do think that in the spirit of the forum being fairly self-governing, that if a moderation decision is made that people either don't understand or don't agree with, that a 'lively discussion' such as this is important and helps everyone feel resolved and heard. Whilst in this case people have largely disagreed with the decision made, I don't think anyone is personally attacking (again, can't think of a better word, sorry!) you Lin. Everyone respects you (as they do all the mods) and I think it's important that people can continue to question decisions without feeling that they are upsetting the mods.

ETA: that doesn't really make sense now you've deleted, sorry. I didn't know posts could be entirely deleted.

I wasn't going to do a high profile flounce but if it reminds everyone that there are real people behind the green, then maybe its a good thing.

I very much know there are real people behind the green, I consider you my friends. I was also upset at the editing and the way it made me look, I don't think those things are incompatible. You can think someone's brilliant and wise but also capable of making a mistake.
I'm sorry you're not modding anymore but I hope you find having more time a relief, and that you're still around as one of us.

{{lin}} obviously missed a post somewhere, but wanted to say that you did what you thought was best with no guidelines & acted in the interests of the forum & its members - no-one can ask or expect more of you than that.

While I understand the hurt & stress that has led to your resignation, and have to respect your choice, part of me hopes that the others reject your resignation, you have been a wise and kind mod since first you were elevated to the shiny green & think we'd miss your long term thinking and sensible calmness.

My hope for this thread was that noone would ever have to be put in the position that you were over this - to be forced to make a decision with nothing to go on is a horrendous place to be, especially when no decision would be universally approved of.

Nobody has forgotten there are people behind the green. I don't think that trying to find a way forward that may be different to the one taken yesterday is a bad thing an I don't think questioning the reasoning for that decision is bad since it helps inform the discussion. I'm sorry you feel the need to resign over it.

I think that is such a shame lin but i can understand how you feel. FWIW i didn't think the editing was too ott. I don't know what was deleted but imo it doesn't make anyone look worse.

(((((Lin)))) I consider the people in green to be mums, friends, users and forumites in need of support and with advice to give just like anyone else. It is very rarely I remember that you have powers. I admire you managing a forum and your own life also.

Well I deleted the whole thread last night. I hated doing it after Lin had spent all day PMing etc. felt like I had wiped a day off her life.

Maybe this whole experience can now be a learning experience for all of us.
