I just use the 'view new posts' text at the top of the page. I never had a special button .....!

I think rp means the one to the left of each thread, the little orange square with an arrow that takes you to the first unread post on that thread. Mines still there...

It disappears when there are no new posts on that thread since you last read it. Least it does in mine!

It's back, hooray! It was a weird sort of black button made of three squares and it was annoying the crap out of me.
