Cheap last-minute holiday inspiration?

I've unexpectedly got the first week of the school holidays off work, so thinking we should go 'on holiday'. Obviously cottages etc are charging 700 quid and there's no way we could afford it. We've only got a two-person tent. We could do days out and stuff from home, but that's not v exciting. Erm...

Any ideas? Needs to be UK south of Manchester/the Wash (don't want to have epic travel)

Swanage is nice for camping. Lots of pretty places and little beaches. We used to go camping at Ullwell Cottage Park.. It was called that or something very similar anyway.

We've just booked a cottage in snowdonia for 3 nights on airbnb for that week - for £50/night there is still quite a lot of availability from what I could tell and Maybe some owners would go even cheaper than the advertised rate for the whole week as it's a late booking and the whole week. Might be worth a browse
