Pregnancy updates - February

Time for a new thread! I start my NCT refresher course tonight; I'm mainly doing it to meet people as we only moved here in June and none of our local friends have little kids. Not sure how interesting the actual content will be tbh, especially the 2hr session on breastfeeding - how much can I really have forgotten since November?! But it'll be nice to have a weekly night off from bedtime, and fingers crossed for some friendly people.

Ooo fingers crossed lily, hope there are some second time mums there too, I went to a thing recently that was all first time mums and got bombarded with questions.

I have signed up for a yoga morning followed by brunch at a local cafe, sounded like fun... I am knackered today, had a lovely weekend of new baby cuddles with my new nephew but there was lots of driving. Dh is away all week :(

I am tired and fighting a cold now... had a baby shower (sprinkle) yesterday (as there are quite a few family members that I hadn't yet met when J was born) and am worn out afterwards. J's birthday party is Saturday, so both looking forward to that and also to that being over...

As much as this baby is due in March I am really hoping he decides to show up the last few days of February... J was due March 13 and born (as I predicted months earlier) Feb 14... I've been calling this one for Feb 26... what do you think? Mother's intuition? Or wishful thinking? Lol. I have an ob appointment tomorrow, and will be 34 weeks on Wednesday, so I am going to confirm if I should go in early if I suspect possible labour or if (they won't intervene at this point) and I can go in whenever his arrival is imminent. :)

Well, I've called my mat leave - last day on Thurs. Going to work my socks of this week to get handover done and then, reeeelax... It's been such a struggle managing the headaches and stressing about work. It's def the right decision, and it feels good now that it's made...

Midwife tomoro. At this point with A they sent me for growth scan as I was measuring somewhat bigger than average. I really wouldn't be surprised if that's what happens tomoro...

Aw VC hope you feel better - love the bump pic though. And yay for mat leave nm! Hope you enjoy the time off.

I've put in my request today for my mat leave to start on my due date, with two weeks of annual leave beforehand so I'll be off from 38 weeks. R was induced at 41+5 so I'm not expecting this one to show up early, but I'll see how I get on. If I'm not coping I may well jack it in early ;)

I was looking at NCT classes today Lily but I think I probably won't bother. I'm not very good in that sort of setting and I think DH would hate it! Would be interested to hear how you find it though as I may be persuaded to change my mind yet.

If we're doing bump pictures, here's me at 25 weeks: http://backtobeyond.tumblr.com/post/109 ... ting-bumpy

RR, that's such a lovely neat bump! Glad you are all sorting out mat leave, I sent off emails yesterday too - starting mat leave in due date with 4 weeks a/l first, so will finish mid May. Feels like we are wishing the year away, it all feels quite segmented into Before Mat Leave/After Mat Leave, and Before Baby/After Baby, with the added excitement (complication!) of the school holidays, having 3 at home over the summer (eek!), then Min starting school in September. Phew! I am looking forward to September to spend some time alone with my baby, but am equally glad the girls will maybe be able to bond with him a bit over the summer.

Not brave enough to do a bump pic, it's HUGE!!! And I'm only 21 weeks, will explode by full term! Went into my maternity uniform for work yesterday, feel like a cross between Princess Di and a marquee.

Oh mindy I am so pleased to have all three over the summer, no one needs to be anywhere on time, we can all hang out in the garden.

I think I'm in denial about how soon it's all happening. I have a big project deadline at the end of March, so am just focused on work till then. Hope she's not early! My maternity allowance kicks in on March 30th, so I'm officially not allowed to do any more work after that.

NCT was lovely. It's a refresher course, so all 2nd timers except for one lady expecting her 3rd. Most of us are there to make friends as much as anything else, so it's very relaxed, and the 1.5hrs flew by. We did a nice relaxation/meditation session at the end which was a real treat. I'm going by myself while DH stays home to put Izbiz to bed; I think he'd be a bit embarrassed by it all, tbh. The one slightly unnerving thing was that my bump was easily the smallest, even though I'm about in the middle of the due dates. I had just about managed to stop worrying about her growth, but now am a bit anxious again. Seeing the mw on Friday for an extra appt, hopefully that'll be reassuring. She's an active little soul, which mw said was more important than size at this stage, anyway.

If it helps at all Lily, I was measuring 33 weeks at my 39 week appointment (I'd had 2 growth scans prior to that as I measured small from 23 weeks on) and baby was born bang on 50th centile (7lb 1oz at 40+3) :) up here policy is if you're measuring more than 2 weeks out they send you for a scan just to check!

Thanks treek, that's reassuring! Baby was estimated to be on the 50th centile at my 20 week scan, so maybe it's just bump that's small, not baby. The policy here is that you get an extra scan if bump is below the 10th centile at 28 weeks, or if growth doesn't follow a curve after that; bump was dead on the 10th centile line last time, so I'll only get an extra scan if it's below that line this time.

Having thought about it, my bump measured bigger with Toots (I was 2 weeks behind what they'd like) and she was smaller! 6lb 5oz at 40+6 (25th centile). Goes to show bump measurements aren't always an accurate predictor of size!

Oh RR I have had some of that! Not fun! And despite OB saying he is floating I get a lot of cervical flutters and my bladder is torturing me for not having had bladder issues on J. (Which is making this head cold an adventure.) I am hoping it resolves after pregnancy...

My hips are killing - did some walking around yesterday (for maybe an hour...) and now I can barely waddle. Going to see if the exercise ball helps at all... The walking was to get one of those huge pregnancy sleep pillows and man do I love it. That thing is never leaving out bed. Already working out how I will cosleep with it... lol. J has a double bed so if DH doesn't like it he has somewhere to go ;)

A couple of my local ladies are headed to the induction list or for c/s this week and next if they don't go on their own. So I am looking forward to some new squish pics soon and sending them smooth delivery vibes. :)

I love those pillows too VC, DH and I have had one each for years! It's getting hard to walk or even leave the house much, I am super tired. People keep texting asking how I'm feeling, if I've had the baby yet, they are so impatient, still a week til my due date! My sister in law had a dream the baby would be born at a family gathering, and we have one on Saturday for Koala's birthday. We'll see.....
