Pregnancy Updates - January

I'm having a baby this month! Aaaaahhhhh!

Midwife tomorrow and consultant next week when hopefully I'll get my section date. Thanks to the Next/Baby Zara sales my son finally has some clothes, and I woken up panicking that he has no nursery (completely irrational as he will be with us for months!) so DH has agreed I can sort out the spare room which really just needs painting and filling with B's old cot etc. I have also spent an obscene amount on a mobile but it is very cute!

Next job: hospital bag. I have the basics but if anyone who had a section found anything particularly helpful please mention it!

Re post section stuff... Slip on slippers - bending down is somewhat tricky. In fact, with that in mind, very easy-on loose trousers etc. Massive knickers - nothing that'll sit on your scar. Outside catering - hospital food is terrible no doubt I'll think of more. I was woefully under prepared as has optimistically expected a 12 hr hospital visit....

Thank you. I had an emcs with B so had to get DH to keep bringing me stuff last time. I remember needing lip balm constantly as it was so dry and hot on the ward. I barely ate too as B always seemed to be feeding during the time we were supposed to go and fetch our meals and the MWs refused to bring me anything or allow me to carry her anywhere, so anyone who visits this time does so with strict instructions to bring food!

Oh how exciting ph my sister is also due this month.

I am feeling really uncomfortable especially at night and I keep getting a pulling pain in my side when I cough/sneeze, like something snapping??

Oh - I took a water spray to mist myself with! It was heaven when I was so hot and sweaty!

Your hospital sounds really naff with the meals though! Our meals were brought to our beds and the midwives would hold and soothe the babies while we ate (all 3 courses please, you are breastfeeding you know!) having said that I always had fruit next to me and DH would bring in snacks too. I went mad for Nobby's Nuts (chilli ones) after my section.

Not pregnancy related but, my poor dd has now been sick 5 times in the last 2 hours she's hardly even waking up now she's so exhausted. I just want to cry for her, and the amount of washing - the in laws are driving over as I type to bring towels as we have now run out. I so hope me and dp don't start with it. But as it's norovirus season, I'm not hopeful....

I'm guessing at this point I should just treat the vomiting, so concentrate on keeping her hydrated until any other symptoms show??

Yes keep hydrated and cal pol to bring temp down if she has one? How was she for the rest of the night?

Thanks t&n... She was sick every hour til 7, but has kept fluids and touch wood, a quarter slice of bread down since then. A nasty bout of diaohrrea at 5.30 too.... She is just wiped out bless her, and so am i. Fear my tummy is also beginning to roll...

Oh no nm I hope you manage to avoid it. Also hope she's over the worst and will just need rest and cuddles.

Maybe this is tmi... I can't get on top of this bout of thrush, Dr prescribed a cream several weeks back which seems to sort it but then it is back again the following week, anyone recommend anything? It is doing my head in.

Thanks lovey... No advice re thrush I'm afraid. Thankfully not something I get often. It's not shower gel/soap/washing powder related is it? I have heard others say it's aggravated by such things...

Vaginal thrush?

I've never had it but I had ductal thrush for weeks after CM was born. I had to have antibiotics for it. Giving up sugar is supposed to help too, luckily I didn't have to go that far lol.

Went to get my rhogram shot today (having put it off a week for the sake of Christmas) only to find that my bloodwork is not up to date and that my doc should have made an appointment! Luckily blood collection was across the hall with no line up so I had the blood test done quickly and have the appointment set in for Tues after my first ob appt. Hopefully that means I can get in and out of her office in good time (since I'll let her secretary know they are expecting me at the hospital. )

It's hard to think I have 7 weeks (if little bit is early like his brother) or 13 if he decided to bake as late as he can... such a random stretch of time...

I don't know what a rhogram shot is either! Have you tried the peasant as well as the cream T &N? Lots of live yoghurt too - both eaten and applied (v messy !). Pregnancy is so not glamorous.....

Urgh, I'm starting to feel very third-trimestery. The pleasant energetic glowing phase is definitely over, and now I'm just hauling extra weight around and feeling my heart pound when I climb the stairs. Depressingly this coincides with the end of a longish period with very little work; I'm now fully employed for every day that Izbiz is at nursery until the end of March. Plus the work starts on my new k-room on Monday, which is v exciting but also means a month or so of total chaos at home.
