We have weaned! Hurray! My nipples don't hurt any more!

How's everyone doing this month?

Ah yay, that must be a relief Lily!

I'm doing well, 17 weeks today, a bit shocked by how fast it's going. My sister just had her baby too, and he's the image of R, I'm so curious as to what this one will look like. Was looking at DH's baby pictures the other day and he was definitely a bit of a funny looking baby, so I might be in for a little gremlin baby ;)

Getting to the point where I look pretty full round the middle, and to anyone who knows I'm pg I'd say I'm definitely showing, but I think to anyone who doesn't I probably just look like I've been getting a bit too involved with the mince pies. Will be glad when I have a definite bump to show off!

Yay Lily! Hope it was easy going for you both... I'm ok. Had gtt today which was hardly fun, but done now. I'm shattered as was having weird 'rushes', felt like adrenaline or some kind of hormone business, until the early hours last night. I think I felt a few gentle tightenings too, so I'm guessing it was braxton hicks. Although I do get these weird rushes quite a bit, so going to ask the mW about it next week. Anyone else experienced them??

Ooh, also, booking onto hospital hypnobirthing course in January. Really quite excited about that and feel very lucky to be able to access it at maternity unit

Wow Lily, I'm seriously hoping M will wean during the next 6 months! Hope it was easy for you both. M is cutting down and actually managed to stay in his cot last night after 2 feeds, can't believe that will happen again for a while though!

I'm just feeling knackered and nauseous, but no actual puking so I can't complain really.

NM - don't remember any rushes like that from last time, hopefully your mw will give you a simple explanation. Not just low blood pressure?

That's great Lily, I hope it went well for you! I am really hoping to wean soon, though I'm not putting any real effort into it yet.

My nipples aren't in pain anymore really, but nursing just feels very weird most of the time now. It feels like he's not sucking right or his mouth is too big or something is just not right about it. I think pre-nap and pre-bed will be the easy ones to drop, but he usually has a long nurse when he wakes up in the mornings and after nap and that will be harder to do away with. Last night we actually went the whole night without nursing, for the first time in a looong time. He woke me three different times asking to have his blankets fixed, but didn't ask to nurse until 6:45 this morning! I'm really hoping this can happen gently and naturally for us, and am curious to see what happens when my supply drops.

I'm still feeling completely exhausted and napping every day at 14 weeks... When did everyone else start getting some energy back for the magical 2nd trimester? (Or am I doomed to be an exhausted zombie for the rest of my life?)

Treeb - I stopped feeling like death at 17 weeks. However the magical energy burst has failed to appear to be honest. If I ever had the chance for an afternoon lie down I would still happily take it! I guess it's just because we're working from a shattered baseline to start with, what with the other one to look after...

Yup, still pretty tired here too, but the total flattening exhaustion eased off for me around 17 or 18 weeks I think.

Weaning wasn't as hard as I'd feared. The only challenging feed was nap time, when he was still feeding to sleep - he still asks every couple of days, but is willing to take no for an answer. I left bedtime till last, hoping he'd drop it naturally, but my milk had completely dried up and he showed no sign of stopping so I just had to push it. In the event, though, he actually complained much less than he had about nap time. And I feel comfortable that he hasn't associated the end of milk too closely with the approach of the baby; hopefully by April it'll be quite a distant memory for him.

On another topic - does anyone want me to add their due dates to the 2015 roll call? I know I haven't got yp or t&n'sm on there yet.

According to t'internet my due date is 3rd July but the mw wanted to wait until the dating scan which is a week on Friday, yay! I'll let you know an official date then, thanks Lily.

Moo has not fed to sleep for a few months at bed time now but he has been holding my hand to get to sleep (or grinding it into the mattress with his knees). Tonight I took my hand away too and said it had gone to sleep, he complained a bit but took his usual 40 mins ish to get to sleep so I'm hopeful I can start to get him to settle without me or at least with daddy over the next few months. At nap time he always feeds to sleep but on Saturday I'd put him in his cot and he woke and asked for more milk but I just sat with him, he never got upset but did take and hour to settle! Again, something to work on! Maybe I will just nap whilst he throws himself around the cot. This really belongs in the b'feeding a toddler thread...

It am waiting for scan too until I start giving out dates, will be adding at least a week though to whatever they give me as mine are always late, will be pretty similar to you yp, scan on Thursday.
Feeling lots of movement or something? Feeling pleased that my normal clothes still fit pretty well, which is handy as all of my mat clothes are being stored at my mums, will go after Xmas to collect etc.
Things are a bit crazy here with lots on at school nursery, DH away, again, no time for naps but so tired...

Nearlymum, I have been getting weird rushes too, I get dizzy and feel sick and have Braxton hicks at the same time. Is that at all what yours feel like? It usually passes after a while, as if the baby moves off a blood vessel it was constricting. Let us know what your mw says, I'd be interested to know.

RR, that stage is so awkward, normal clothes don't fit properly and maternity clothes look weird. And people start to wonder if you are preggers but are too scared to ask! Hope you get a lovely, but comfortable bump soon.

I think I had a proper contraction last night. Really painful, I had to crouch down and couldn't talk through it. I would be worried but it was just one.

Still here! Technically due today, but I think it'll be a little while yet...

Off to start a name thread, still undecided and I don't have dh's faith that we'll just *know* when we see baby!

Eek! Hope things start for you soon treek! I'm in the same boat with names (albeit with a bit more time on my side!) I don't feel the need to decide on a name as such, but I at least want a shortlist. I feel like I need to sit with the names a bit to let them sink in and see if I really like them. I hate the idea of choosing something on impulse and then hating it 6 months down the line!

yp, my previous post could have gone in the toddler BFing thread too, but it's relevant here as well. Aaaaand it looks like we are a lot closer to weaning than I thought! L hasn't nursed today since this morning when he woke up, which was only a quick one and all his nursing yesterday were very quick sessions. At some point yesterday I had asked him if he was getting any milk and he replied "milk stuck" so I started explaining how there might not be any more milk, he's a big boy and can drink other things now, etc. Whenever we got to a nursing time today I just reminded him how there's no more milk in Mama's boobas, and offered him water instead which he took without complaint and had a few sips. This could actually be the end! I won't really know for sure if this morning was the last time until we see how his night wakings go tonight and especially his morning wake up tomorrow when he crawls into bed with us. Feels very strange not to have nursed all day!

I also think I have been feeling a few tiny movements today! Not 100% sure as it is such a tiny little feeling and gone so quickly, but I know it won't be long before I start feeling some real more distinct movements. :)

RR, we gave each of the names on our list a "test run" last time around. At some point near the end we decided to pick a name from the list and use that name when referring to the bump for a few days to see how it felt. The first couple didn't feel right, but when we got to L's name it stuck and we just kept on using it instead of moving on to the next, so we knew that was the one.

Yes this. No.2's name is sorted for us we think, although I am waiting until
I see him for the final decision! We've tried them all out with B too - we were trying Rufus out for a couple of weeks but B kept calling him walrus which was somewhat off-putting :D

DH has vetoed Rufus, so that's off my list. He suggested Bran, but with our surname it would sound dangerously close to branflake, so I vetoed that one. My new addition this week is Morris, which DH was pretty receptive to. Anything we can agree on is progress!
