Piles :(

Sorry for the grimness of this topic, but my piles are horrific. There were a couple that hung around after A, but they've never really given me much grief. But constipation has made them worse this time round, and the last couple of days they are shocking. I think baby might be pressing on something, I don't know, but today I have loads and they're really uncomfortable. My whole downstairs area is pretty uncomfortable today actually :( I've got some cream, but any other suggestions/tips for easing them? Think I might have to rock out the prune juice again too... Yum...

No tips, just lots of sympathy! Are you taking fybogel every day? Might be worth a try if not. Ouch!

I'm not Mindy, but I think I'm going to have to start taking something... Oh this pregnancy business is just so very glamorous...

Oooh, lots of sympathy. Wet wipes instead of toilet paper?

Go to boots and buy some witch hazel gel. I put some on a cotton wool pad and keep it in between my butt cheeks- helped stop the itching and throbbing. Wet wipes instead of loo roll is a good tip too.

I had them before kids, terrible in both pregnancies, and awful after a vbac with dd2, the only thing that helped me (as I was in pain a lot of the time and sometimes didnt sleep or concentrate on anything due to it) was proctosedyl ointment and suppositories...both can only be got on prescription and contact local anaesthetic which really eased the pain for me.
Hth they are awful things and not something you can tell folk out loud...I said it was lower back pain, as I found walking, sitting and standing v painful and this way I could declare the pain (which was obvious to those around me) without having to say the word piles! X

Thanks guys. Will def get some witch hazel and wet wipes and hope that helps... DM - you're so right about not being able to speak about it, which us crazy really eh, as they,'re such a common pregnancy symptom... I'm hoping for a vbac this time and am a bit worried about how they'll be after. Hopefully I can get them 'under control' between now and then... Oh the joys...

Oh you poor thing, I never understood what a misery they could be until little man was born...they were worse than the episiotomy. Suppositories were the absolute only thing that helped - witch hazel and helped prevent infection from stitches etc but only the suppositories eased the piles. I really feel for you.
