Bloat. Ugh.

Postby NorthernKitten » 18 Jun 2014, 20:56

Have spent all night with my trouser button undone, letting my (oh so very bloated and constipated) belly hang out.

The relief is almost palpable.

The question is, do I give in to the inevitable and switch to my mat jeans, purely for bloat, not baby; buy a button extender (and/or some natural pregnancy approved laxative) or just continue to run the risk of trousers dropping off each time I stand up?

I hate this in-between stage. And am at a family wedding on Saturday, having already not drunk at the hen night but managed to pass it off as too much to do the next day... If I don't get rid of this belly before then there'll be some questions to answer! We don't want to spill to parents for another 4 weeks if possible. My bloat is making that increasingly unlikely (although I do a good line in 'the munchkin is weaning - my body is settling back to its normal (not ridiculously small) size, so thanks for making me feel good about my body image' rebuttal!)

And I can't stop eating salt and vinegar squares, bacon sandwiches, or tesco frozen steak pies. This child is going to be so healthy!!

Sorry for whiney rant - but I know you share my pain. DH just looks at me like I've got two heads. If I show him bloat, his eyes wander to (equally fulsome) boobies. *sigh*

I might still have a button extender or two floating around. I can look in the morning if you like.

I feel your pain. We haven't told anyone but I feel like it is so obvious. But too bad, they can keep guessing!

I think we are all more sensitive to changes on ourself than others are - probably no one has any idea! When I was pg with snuffler I was convinced that at least the other female in my office would have guessed due to larger tummy and my constant drinking fizzy oj and snacking in the morning to combat nausea, not to mention the late meeting where I picked ham out of all the sarnies, but she had no idea...

I would go with the button extender personally, I hate maternity jeans...

Are you sure it's bloat? I definitely started to get bigger earlier with The Wee One. Waistbands were just so uncomfortable. I was in my mat gear by 8wks!

Drink boiled, cooled water for your constipation. My mum and gran swear by it and it works for me too (probably tmi)

Really sorry, just checked. I've only got the 'boy school trouser' fastener extenders now. You're welcome to them but I suspect they're not that useful to you. Let me know.

Ooh - hadn't spotted the extra replies :-)

Mp, thanks, but probability less useful! Will stick with hair bobble DIY extension for now...

Squares - potato crisps (chips), which are baked and are square shaped. Amazingly yummy - and only 98 cals a bag. Most importantly, they're the saltiest of all the salt and vinegar flavoured snack foods!!

Chipsticls are too bitty for me - I find the random disintegration hinders the salt appreciation! And I always find a funny aftertaste with discos - a bit like veg oil. ;-)
