My fingers are shrinking

Postby Kitcameron » 11 Apr 2014, 19:35

Is this common in pregnancy?

By shrinking I mean getting narrower not shorter lol. I noticed the other day that when I shake my hands (doing actions to songs with G usually lol) that my wedding and engagement rings are rattling around. I don't think they'll fall off just yet but they do slide over my knuckle fairly easily now. I think if I caught them on something they might come off, I think I'd notice though. I guess I'm just pondering whether to take them off and wear them on a chain rather than on my finger but that would feel so weird.

No idea but put a bit of tape around the back of them, the elastoplast kind, and change it every couple of days.

I have no idea, but I haven't worn my wedding ring since I was about 25 weeks as my fingers are so swollen! My engagement ring is slightly bigger than my wedding ring so that is still on for now...it'll have to come off soon. It feels really weird not wearing them but I'm scared of having to have them cut off and then remade!

I def have the opposite problem: within a few weeks of getting pregnant I can't fit my rings; after P it took several months and with R I still don't fit back in them.

Hmmm, would dehydration make them shrink do you think? Haven't any other symptoms of dehydration but I do know I don't drink enough.

I thought they'd be more likely to swell than shrink too but apparently not. My engagement ring is also slightly bigger than wedding ring but it's also the lower of the two on my finger so hopefully my wedding ring will keep it in place.

I wore my wedding ring through both my pregnancies, only taking them off to go into theatre.

My fingers also got narrower but I have a tendency to lose weight while pregnant anyway so I put it down to that!

Yeah I don't remember having any issues last time. My mum reckons my face is getting thinner so maybe I am loosing weight in other places, obviously not overall, well I hope not anyway lol.

Probably nothing to worry about anyway. Thanks for your input guys.

That is odd. I know mine fingers don't seem to be swelling yet either, but my feet are.

As regards wearing them, I would take them off if you're really afraid of losing them. If they got lost, even if they could be physically replaced, would it have the same emotional meaning?

If your fingers stay smaller post-pregnancy, you can always get them resized then, but it's better not to draw any conclusions now.

Think they've gone back to normal size in the heat now, well my rings certainly aren't flapping around quite as much as they were anyway. If they do get thinner again though I'm definitely taking them off.
