Don't leave, be himself and take his lead from you. I spoke the whole way through each labour (MW thought it was hilarious, I'd resume a sentence as soon as the contraction was over) so didn't really go into myself like some do so what I wanted was pretty clear. Can't remember if DH massaged me, but I know he electrocuted himself when he took off the TENS machine when I had DD1. His main advice to all expectant fathers now is 'make sure the TENS machine is switched off before you take it off your wife'.
