James and Daniel are my favourites - good job we didn't have a boy since my nephew is already Daniel James!
Pootle - May 2011 (after a long time trying)

Oscar, Jacob, Edgar, Boris (these are the names of one family of boys I know), Dunstan, Edmund, Jeremy, Giles (another family of boys)
Mummy to M - September 1998, D - October 2007, and E - May 2010. All BF, cloth nappies, and carried in the same sling, not sure BLW existed in the 90s though!

These are my kind of names! All the ones on our (very short) list. Hard to think of others. I like the idea of looking at author's names!

Gerard, Job (doesn't fit really buy DH just threw it out there), Alastair, Hugo, Noah (again not really fitting the criteria but it's nice).

Will try and think of others.

Where is here? And why is it banned? I'm confused. I've heard of some places banning inappropriate or too-unusual names, but such a normal name?

Here in BC (Canada) the only names that are banned are ones with unusual characters.

Valid names may only consist of roman alphabetic letters, apostrophes, hyphens and a standard set of French accents. Numbers, Brackets (), slashes / or other symbols are not accepted.

I love all the names listed, by the way. We're lucky we have two girls, because we could never agree on a boy's name. It was so hard!
I love my kiddos! Two April girls (2011 and 2013) and a May boy (2016). I guess we have spring babies in this family.

I think MP means Mr C has banned it. I suspect Mr Emzit would too.

MIL suggested Albert yesterday.

I remember a news story of a child named Duke. The parents were told they weren't allowed to use it because it's a title. I think they fought and one.

Oh, of course! Sorry, I just didn't get it. My husband has vetoed my favourite boy name (Lars) and it just kills me.

Yup this although I love the idea of a country randomly banning a name for no reason.
I love Lars, that's great.

Names that made the short-list for us were Arthur, Sebastian, and Benjamin. We used Christopher and Peter as the boys' middle names, but they both came fairly close to having their first and middle names switched as each time we ended up with two names we liked equally well.

The only name not mentioned already that was on our shortlist is Calvin. Judging from the reaction we get, it's not very popular! But we like it. :)

That's a bit rude of people! But who wants a name everyone else has anyway?

Yes indeed, how rude! It's quite popular here if that helps - we know a handful of Calvin/Kelvins :)
