"follow button" issues

I have at last got down to properly writing my blog that I set up a couple of months ago, but have encountered a strange issue that I am really hoping someone can shed some light on!

I linked my blog to facebook, and a friend mentioned that she couldn't see a follow function. So I went to my WordPress site, fiddled with all the settings, did what the help pages said to do (though they said it ought to automatically appear), and I can't make it work.

The help pages gave 2 suggestions: Either, Settings - Reading - Email (here I don't have an Email option)
Or Appearance - Widgets - Follow (here I don't have a Follow option)

Any idea why I wouldn't have access to this? I have just updated my WordPress.

This might sound v obvious, but you can only follow through WordPress if you have a WordPress account - is that the problem? (Although I do have e-mail followers too, not sure how they follow.... )

<checks> - ah yes, the follow button is in a different place if you're not signed into WordPress - it's like a pop-up in the bottom right hand corner. I will have a look at your blog and report back!

Nope, they are both missing! I will investigate further.
