Mumsnet bloggers network forum

Postby KateGladTidings » 25 Nov 2011, 21:58

Hello this board!

I've just been accepted as part of the mumsnet bloggers network - applied aaages ago and then forgot all about it until I got an e-mail saying I was in! So I have a shiny new badge for my blog (which in many ways has never been in worse shape) and am considering posting on their forum but am a bit scared. So I was wondering if any of you folks were over there, under different names? I've barely ever posted on MN and could do with someone friendly to hold my hand

(And yes, I'm fully aware that I am grossly betraying this forum by even mentioning this. I feel bad for cheating on you, but it's all for the sake of improving my page views... ;) )

I'm on one of them (maybe I'm on the netmums one, don't know)...what I do know is that most of us who have linked into these blogger networks have seen very little blog traffic from it (if that's what you are looking for), but MN and NM have all done very well out of it.

Yep, I'm with them too; also as badgerwife, my blog is http://afrogatlarge.wordpress.com/

I am usually completely oblivious to online politics so I didn't realise there was awkwardness between MN and this site. Since I discovered BLW through trawling the MN site and got helpful advice when I was TCC I won't be one to criticise them. I tend to lurk more than anything on the forums where I can learn something, although it would be fair to say it has opened my eyes... :-)

I'm not getting masses of traffic but I am getting 'some', but I am not a very prolific blogger and have no expectation that the blog is going to be very popular so I don't mind. Any publicity is good as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think there is any awkwardness between MN and here, in fact Aitch set up here and is a Big Wig at MN.

Hi Bw!

There's no awkwardness between us and them as far as I know - our very own aitch is involved at mnhq. It's just that I personally get a little scared of the big-ness of it all, hence preferring to hang out here, where I know people. And if you spend a lot of time here, you do just feel weird going anywhere else :)

tell you what we SHOULD bloody well do, though, is have a crappy network of our own. or at least a LIST. i keep on meaning to do it, what would be the smartest way? static content on the front of the site saying 'here are people keeping blogs about weaning' 'here are yer weirdy crafters' and 'here are the people for whom AN ENTIRE FORUM is not enough and who need MORE SPACE ON THE WWW'?

i'm no wig at all, truly. i'm just a freelance who said 'okay-doke' when they asked me to do some writing for them. i'm afraid the role carries no power or wiggage at all... <weeps in thwarted fashion>

Hmmmm....that's a good plan. Not sure how to best do it. A sidebar of some kind?! My blog is neither about weaning nor crafting, but I do feel like I need more space on the www,as you say ;)

That would be SO COOL!

I'd have thought an A-Z list would be a good start. Would LOVE a badge too, a little BLW advertisement would do no harm.

I did think I had seen Aitch's name on the MN site and wondered if it was the same one! Glad there's no awkwardness, not that it would stop me posting anywhere...
